Willow, Willow, Weep With Us
(Dedicated to Battered Women Down Through the Ages)

River, River, flowing by that tree,
Tell Willow not to weep for us . . .
We have Advocates in eternity--but
Willow, Willow, weep with us . . .

We've been tricked, buttered up, deceived,
Robes of dignity ripped to shreds,
Few things sought have we received
Yet, we pray for those who misuse us . . .

Hearts stone cold, clammed-up with pride,
Eyes laughing, lips curling,
Vacuous spirits, defiant inside--
Willow, Willow, Weep With Us . . .

Our tender hearts coaxed in the night,
Seeking happy ever afters
Promised moons, deprived of birthright,
Willow, Willow, Weep With Us . . .

For men depraved and intra-sensory,
For whom we weep months, days, centuries--
As One wept to see Calvary
We weep to see men thus.

Willow, do not weep for us . . .
Already we've done enough of that
But brutish men without repentance, hell-bent--
We alone have the power to weep for these.

The 'In-Out' Game

You drew your circle and left me 'out'
Christ drew his circle and drew me 'in'--therefore, I win.
